I see design as the integration of aesthetics, technology and teamwork.

Creating architecture involves complex problem solving. How can a building function best for the dollars and energy expended? What character should a building have? Problems and options are organized and broken down into clear ideas and decisions. With clarity, solutions become apparent to everyone involved.

People hire guides to go into the wilderness. They’re more confident in the unknown when they go with someone who’s been there before. The guide can’t go there for you, but can help you to get the most out of the experience. I'm an architectural guide.

The technology of architecture involves the basic elements: air, fire, water, earth. We deal with air flow and temperature while protecting from wind; keep water out while using water within; protect against heat, while staying warm; and build from the ground, selecting sustainable materials and using them efficiently.
