The new Rice Library occupies an important corner site in its community and serves as a beacon for the neighborhood. Individual areas of the library are organized along an open, central path of circulation accented by a continuous skylight above. This visibility within the building promotes engagement with the materials offered and interaction among library patrons. Reflecting the commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability of Cleveland Public Library, this building was designed to meet the criteria for LEED New Construction certification outlined by the United States Green Building Council.
